CRMS Board of Directors

Currently, the CRMS Board of Directors is composed of six voting members. Board members bring a variety of experience and talent to their volunteer service. We are currently seeking new bard members with experince in Montessori education, finance, development, marketing, and facilities management. See below for more information on how to get involved.

Doreen Robinson, Chair

Doreen is an alumni parent, having had both of her children, Zack and Sheri attend CRMS. She currently works at SimplexGrinnell as a Project Coordinator for new-install projects. Doreen and her husband have supported CRMS since Zack first enrolled in the fall of 1998. Through all of those years they have only missed two auctions.

Kirk Smith, Treasurer

When asked why he volunteers for CRMS Kirk replied, “I have seen first hand the educational excellence of CRMS, the confidence my children achieved through their CRMS education. This is a place I can make a difference and believe that the love of learning and of humanity the children learn at CRMS will make a positive impact in this world. I like being a part of it.” Kirk’s three children all attended CRMS and his service to the school spans over fifteen years. He works as CEO for Athena Partners in Seattle.

Marija Horoszowski, Secretary

Born in Ljubljuna, Slovenia and reared in Germany and the U.S., Marija joined the Board in May of 2008. She was recruited by friend Susie François, and felt compelled to say yes after visiting the campus and observing the wonders of a Montessori education in our particular setting. Marija is recently retired from Siemens Ultrasound.

Ali Spietz: Member

Ali was born in Seattle but did most of her growing up on a small family farm in Kent. She attended CRMS from the time she was four until she reached the age of thirteen. She is now the City Clerk for the City of Mercer Island, and she has served the CRMS Board as president from October 2005 to August 2008.

Heather Wilson: Member

Heather brings over nine years of commercial contracting and regulatory experience to the board. A graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison (B.A. 1992) and the College of William and Mary School of Law (J.D. 1998), her practice has been focused on regulated industries. Her interest in CRMS stems from her strong belief in fostering a love for and commitment to education at an early age.

Charis Sharp: Head of School and Member

Charis has been invovled in education and private school administration for over fifteen years and holds a Mastersin Teaching from The Evergreen State College, and both a Masters in organizational development and a PhD in small school leadership from Antioch University. She believes deeply in education that follows the child, fosters independence and builds on the innate desire to learn and explore. She is a voting member until the board grows a bit and then will become an ex officio member.

Cindi Toko: Business Manager and Ex Officio Member

Cindi brings many years of business and non-profit financial management to the school and has served at CRMS for over ten years. As one of several staff memers with a long history at CRMS, she believes deeply in the power and promise of the school and is dedicated to its success.
