Early Childhood
Ages 3 - 6
Program
Our Early Childhood Montessori program builds on each child's natural curiosity and desire to learn. It prepares them for elementary level work by building readiness in language and math while also teaching them skills that support independence and social competence. Students starting as three-year olds will be ready for first grade following completion of three years in an Early Childhood classroom.
It is a full-day, five-days-a-week program. For children entering as three-year olds we offer a limited number of half-day morning spots if space allows. Students bring their own lunches and the school provides a morning and afternoon snack. There are 20 children in each of our three classrooms, with one certified Montessori teacher and one assistant.
Curriculum
Our Early Childhood program is rich with opportunities for learning. Maria Montessori envisioned schools that not only provided a well-developed and robust curriculum, but schools that brought learning into the hands of students through contact with the natural world. CRMS is very much what she would have considered an ideal location to support the Montessori learning structure. Our program consists of five major academic curriculum areas and a selection of enrichment activities:
Practical Life
Cooperation, eye/hand coordination & small motor skills, and independence
Sensorial
Concepts of volume, mass, depth, width, sizes, and other sensory development
Math
Concepts of numbers, place value leading to addition, multiplication, and subtraction
Language
Prewriting, writing, and reading experiences; learning to express through language
Culture
Geography, history, art, music, botany, zoology, physical science, geology, and astronomy
Enrichment
Explorations in gardening, animals, foreign language, music, and PE
Schedule
A major piece of the Montessori philosophy is open work time. During this time the student has a great deal of freedom in choosing his or her work, provided that he or she has received an introductory lesson in that work and
is developmentally ready for the level of ability that the work entails. Each Early Childhood classroom may make changes in the schedule from time to time depending on what they are studying, what enrichment activities are scheduled, etc. However, your child would typically experience the following during a day at CRMS:

The book and materials fee is due with first month's tuition in June prior to the start of the school year. The remaining nine payments are billed monthly, starting in September. The deposit is refundable at the end of the school year or is rolled over into the next school year.
